How to Install And Store High-speed Rail Clips
High Speed means more to AGICO than fast trains. Some of our products offer high speed installation and high output track laying which creates the opportunity to maximise efficient operations with minimal impact from maintenance.
As the leading manufacturer of high speed rail fasteners with more than 20 years of experience, AGICO Rail can produce various types of high speed rail clips both for ballasted and non-ballasted tracks. AGICO’s expertise runs across several countries operating in unique climates with different trains, axle loads and track forms to which AGICO has adapted it’s unique solutions.
2. As placed, rail clips shall be neatly stacked and respectively stored in different areas according to different products. The identification plates shall be marked clearly with manufacturer, model number, quantity, arrival time and the laying and erecting section.
3. The rail clip products shall be protected from moisture, water and sun when they are stored in open spaces on the construction site. It is necessary to lay wood plates between the products and the ground and cover the products with a tarpaulin to prevent the surface from rusting when they are exposed in rain or immersed in rain. Rubber parts are prone to get aged due to exposure.
4. After the rail clip products enter the construction site, special personnel shall be sent to manage them and have the receiving, sending and stored records. In the loading and unloading processes, it is prohibited to violent treatment without throw behaviors.

Storage requirements of High-speed Rail Clips
1. In principal, based on their properties and characteristics, the storage materials shall be kept in the warehouses with clean, dry, ventilated, lifting and transportation convenient conditions. Nylon plastic parts shall not be stored in the open air and not be set in the same warehouse with chemicals such as acids, organic solvents, etc. The warehouse temperature shall not exceed 60°C, and the distance away from heat source shall not be less than 1m. Gauge plate must not be subjected to violent collision and throw during transportation. Rubber parts shall be stored in a clean, ventilated place without direct sunlight and away from heat and chemical reagents. They mustn’t be in contact with oils, organic solvents and other chemicals that are harmful to rubber, and they shall prevent sun exposure. The storage period of rubber parts must be within not more than one year.2. As placed, rail clips shall be neatly stacked and respectively stored in different areas according to different products. Installation Protection of High-speed Rail Clips
- 1. The installation, adjustment and maintenance of the products shall follow the requirements of Fastener Installation Instruction.
- 2. According to the past experience at the site, some violation common problems that are easily found during the installation are summarized. See Table below for details.
No. | Type of Fastener | Common Problem | Cause, Possible Consequences and Measures |
1 | Type IV Clip | Cannot be installed in right position | The right installation is that the position is controlled within 8 to 10 mm from the inside side of small arc of the clip and the end of rail shoulder. To be much tightened or the too large distance shall be prohibited. Or, the clamping force, residual deformation and service life of the clip will be affected. |
2 | Type IV Clip | Loaded and unloaded by hammer striking or others. | As installing the clip, special tools shall be used for the proper installation. Using a hammer strike will deform and damage the clip. |
3 |
Type IV Clip Type V Clip Type WJ-7 Clip Type WJ-8 Clip |
Metal coating layer is corrosive or damaged. | Inadequate protection during transportation, the dismantling wear due to repeated loading and unloading, the equipment collision, and other mechanical damage during installation. It is recommended that civilized operations shall be performed on the rusted parts in a timely manner and often applied oil. |

violently strike the gauge block into the position | When gauge block cannot meet the track gauge requirement or the track gauge block cannot be installed in right position, it shall be done to replace new one so as to avoid damage according to the actual situation. |
5 |
Type IV Clip Type V Clip Type WJ-7 Clip Type WJ-8 Clip |
The gap between gauge block and rail is more than 1mm | As affecting the gauge, the track gauge model shall be replaced. |
6 |
Type V Clip Type WJ-7 Clip Type WJ-8 Clip |
The installation torque of clip is too large. | The fastening operation of the clip is based on the contact between the lower part of the front end of the clip and the insulating gauge block, and the gap is not more than 0.5mm. If the installation torque is too large, the gauge block will be pressed out of the pit so that the clip appearance size gets deformed, and permanent residual deformation is too large. In case that when installed in right position again, the clamping force of the clip will be reduced and the fatigue life shortened. The damaged clip and gauge block shall be replaced immediately. |
7 |
Type V Clip Type WJ-7 Clip Type WJ-8 Clip |
The gap between the lower end of the front end of the clip and the insulation block is larger than 0.5mm | The installation torque is small. The clamping force is small, affecting the safety of railway line. The worker Shall retighten to reach three point contact of the clip (The gap is not more than 0.5mm). |
8 |
Type V Clip Type WJ-7 Clip Type WJ-8 Clip |
The adjustment pad is wrong in use. | The thickness, quantity and different thickness of adjustment pads are incorrectly used. They shall be placed according to the requirements in the fastener instruction for use. |
9 | Type WJ-7 Clip | The installation direction of the tie plate is wrong in a reversed way. | Installation error. Affects the slope of the rail base. The adjustment shall be done. |
10 | Type WJ-7 Clip | The thread part of the T-bolt is not coated with oil. | It affects the smooth fitting of the thread and does not effectively protect the bolted coating. The T-bolt thread shall be coated with protective grease before installation. |
11 | Type WJ-7 Clip | T-bolt is tilt | It is caused by wrong position of T- bolt and shall be adjusted. Correct installation shall be as follows: Insert the head of T-bolt into the bottom of tie plate and rotate it by 90°, and then lift it so that the T-shaped head is fully embedded in the groove. |

Type IV Clip Type V Clip Type WJ-7 Clip Type WJ-8 Clip |
The clip is broken. | All kinds of improper construction lead to broken fasteners. Common situations include: rail shoulders, hexagon bolts, nylon pieces, etc., They shall be replaced immediately after discovery. |
